Anna Sui Nail Color 001

Good morning, Dear Reader!

To start off a new work week, I changed my polish to one that's far less attention-grabbing than a neon yellow.  I looked through some untried colors and found Anna Sui 001, which is a kind of sheer off-white base loaded up with lots of fine flaky glitter, and of course, being made by Anna Sui, is lightly rose scented.  Since I wanted the manicure to be opaque, I used a base shade that was close to the Anna Sui in an opaque cream, American Apparel Cotton.  Cotton took two coats and was a still bit blotchy after the second, but I figured the Anna Sui would even that out, and it did when I added two coats of it.  Finishing with one coat of top coat smoothed everything out nicely.  Here it is in the best sunlight I saw yesterday.

This turned out much better than I'd expected at the start.  Since I used a white background for the picture, the color looks distinctly off-white, but without real white nearby for comparison, the polish gives the impression of being white without being stark.  I think the addition of the glittery Anna Sui makes it far more interesting and appealing to me than American Apparel Cotton would be on its own.  I'm quite pleased with the result, and I hope it holds up for a few days do I can add Konad  to it, as I'd hoped to but didn't get around to adding to the last few.

I found a few good things in that little box of untrieds I stumbled upon, so I set aside a few of them to show you soon.  I also found some odd items, such as a refill bottle of Seche Clear base coat, which I don't currently use and don't recall ever using regularly.  All I remember about the stuff is that my nails stained easily when I used it, so I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with a big refill bottle of it.  I wish I'd tape a note explaining why I've chosen to own something before placing it in a box!

That's the scoop for today, Dear Reader.  Until next time, love and nail polish to you!

Anna Sui 318

Good afternoon, Dear Reader!

Today I needed a bright, chipper nail polish, and I went with Anna Sui 318.  It's a very pretty red pink shimmer that's nicely rose scented, which I acquired in a recent Urban Outfitters purchase.  Urban Outfitters doesn't use the color number, which complicates things.  If I'd been thinking upon opening the shipment of these, I would have noted on the the color number on the invoice, but I did not.  In their infinite wisdom, UO shipped each polish I ordered in a separate box, so I would have been able to connect a color number to a description upon opening them.  Lesson learned - I'll do that in the future...

Back to Anna Sui 318... It was a two coater, and just screams flowers - the color, the fragrance, this is one flowery nail polish!  Here's the finished manicure.

Anna Sui 101

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I'm keeping up with the glitter today with Anna Sui 101.  It's sheer blue base with fine opalescent glitter and medium blue hex glitter.  I got it from Urban Outfitters, who recently started carrying Anna Sui nail polish, but I couldn't tell you how they have it listed.  They don't use the color numbers, which makes it kind of hard to find a specific polish.

I used two coats of Anna Sui 101, and it's definitely a bit odd, but I like it.  It looks like my hands are icy cold, which would be kind of nice right now!

Of course, the added bonus is that now my nails smell like roses, which is fun.

That's the update for today.  Until tomorrow, love and nail polish to you!

Anna Sui 203

Good morning, Dear Reader!

You've seen today's nail polish before, but I like it so much I thought I'd show it to you again.  It's Anna Sui 203, a reddish plum jelly base with holo glitter and hex glitter.  And it smells like roses.  It's in the newer bottle design and the rose fragrance is not as knock-me-over as in the old design.

I used three coats of Anna Sui 203 to make it opaque, and I just used one coat of top coat.  It could have used another to make it smooth, but at least my nails smell like roses.

Anna Sui Dolly Girl Nail Polish Sets

Happy Halloween, Dear Reader!

I'm not a huge Halloween person, or holiday person, for that matter, so I have something entirely unrelated to Halloween for you today. Today, we have the limited edition Anna Sui Dolly Girl nail polish sets.

These are available on Sasa, but I found them for a lot less in Singapore. Alas, the source in Singapore no longer has them.

There are two sets (conveniently named 01 and 02), and each consists of three downsized Anna Sui polishes, nail art decals, and a little doll house box for them. The polishes aren't too mini - they're 6ml rather than Anna Sui's usual 10 ml.

This is Dolly Girl Nail Set 01.

For today's manicure, I used two coats of 106 topped with one coat of 008, and my nails smell all Anna Sui rosy. It's the new rosy though, where it smells good rather than the overpowering scent of the older ones.

So I'm not Halloween-y today, but I have sparkly nails that smell like roses, so I couldn't complain if I wanted to...

Anna Sui & Jill Stuart: Scented Nail Polish

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I'd planned to show you one nail polish today, Anna Sui #003, and discovered there were a couple more I'd forgotten to show to you. So today I have Japanese glitter nail polish that smells good.

The one for today, Anna Sui #003, is silver and holo glitter in a black base. Anna Sui nail polish smells like roses, and it seems that in the new bottles, the scent has been toned down quite a bit so it's no longer overwhelming. This is Anna Sui #003.

The next one is a purpley base with multi colored glitter, Anna Sui #203.

Last is Jill Stuart Planet Glaze, which smells lightly of lilacs and baby powder. This one, I think is a new and improved version of Essie Starry Starry Night. Here's two coats of Planet Glaze.

These are just a few Japanese glitter nail polishes that smell pretty. Apparently, manufacturers are under the impression that Americans do not like things that sparkle and smell nice. At least in my case, they're wrong - I love them!

That's all for now, Dear Reader. Until next time, love and nail polish to you!
