L.A. Girl Rock Star Nail Lacquers

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I'm about a year late showing the L.A. Girl Rock Star nail lacquers, but I just got a few of them recently and they were too cool to not show you.

Overall, they're somewhat sheer, so I layered the lighter shades over black.  I used one coat of Nubar Black and one coat of the Rock Star polish for each of those swatches.  The darker colors, I just used two coats of the Rock Star.

Scandal is a pale pink shimmer that doesn't really show up on its own, but really comes alive over black.

Crowd Surfing is an interesting green with glaky gold glitter, also over black.

Addict is a vampy red jelly with gold glitter.  This is two coats.

Overdose is a pink and purple glitter in a clear base, and one coat over black worked well.

Rock Star is a purplish brown with gold glitter.

Punk is a kind of duochromey blue base with purple glitter.  I think it would have been better over black.

Those are the L.A. Girl Rock Star nail polishes I chose, but there are quite a few more.  I got them from Cherry Culture, where I believe they are still available.

Water Decals

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I have a new thing I'm having fun with: water decals! I've seen them, admired them, and now I finally tried them. They're great!

First up, I have my mani for a get-together with my favorite fun cousin today. It seemed like a great opportunity to use the Winnie the Pooh (!!!) decals I got. It's silly and immature, and I like it.

I started with two coats of Nubar Orange Creme, did a coat of Diamont, then added the decals and sealed them with another coat of Diamont. To use the decals, I wet a sponge, set the decals on it front side facing up, then used a tweezers to apply them once they slid around on the backing. This is one of the most lighthearted manis ever.

They aren't just silly, though. I got some that are more elegant that I used yesterdy to figure out how to use the decals. This is L.A. Girls Can U Dig It?, with the manicure done the same way as the one above.

I love these things. They're perfectly smooth on the nail (my first attempt wasn't perfect, but I think I have it down now), and they're fun.

L.A. Girls Heavy Metal & Pure Ice Heartbreaker

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I have an L.A. Girls Rock Star nail polish to show you today, which Scrangie recently showed you bottle pictures of. This is two coats of Heavy Metal, a sparkly dark gunmetal grey.

It's a good color on its own, but I thought I'd spice it up a bit with two coats of Pure Ice Heartbreaker.

I'm really pleased with the layered effect, and it's a nice cheapo combination. The two bottles together are about $5, which evens out the Chanels I showed you yesterday (at least in my head!).
