Movember Nail Art

Has everyone heard of Movember? It's a great initiative that runs throughout the month of November to raise funds and awareness for some too often ignored men's health issues, and more specifically protate cancer and other cancers that affect the male proportion of the population. 

Guys (or Mo Bros) are encouraged to start the month clean shaven and spend the next 30 days grooming their moustache to perfection, but I know a lot of gentlemen prefer to abstain from any form of grooming instead of going for the perfectly preened moustache!

I've seen a lot of pictures of Movember nails this month, but I think I've managed to trace the idea back to cutepolish on YouTube. You can see her original video for creating moustaches on your nails here.

I thought I'd add my own touch to this mani so I've used a few different Mo designs!

I used the always classic Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude as my base colour and painted on the Mos with black acrylic paint. All finished with a top coat of NYC Expert Last.

Day 31: Recreate Your Favourite Challenge (Double Feature)

Today, the 31 Day Challenge comes to an end for Me, Rie and Cris. There's been some ups and downs but I've loved the whole experience. It will be nice to go back to posting whatever I want when I want but I'm slightly afraid that I've forgotten how to create manicures without a list to follow!

Cris, Rie and I were discussing what 'Recreate Your Favourite Challenge' actually means and in the end we just decided to recreate our favourite challenge from each others' previous 30 days.

From Rie's challenge, I wanted to recreate her 'Inspired by Fashion' nails. She was inspired by some incredible Alexander McQueen shoes. To see and Rie's mani and the shoes that inspired it, click here.

I love Rie's mani because it translate the shoe perfectly on to her nails. The finished look is so simple and elegant which is everything I look for in a manicure.

I used E.L.F Innocence as a base and I don't have the same Konad plate she used so I went for a design from one of my fauxnad plates which I stamped with Barry M Grey first, then Barry M Silver Foil. I sponged on a little silver glitter and added a top coat of NYC, et voila!

From Cris, I decided on her Flower nails from Day 14. She used a combination of stamping, freehand and dotting to create a beautiful vibrant manicure. Click here to see her mani.

I love Cris's flower mani because every time I look at it I can't help but feel a little warmer inside. It gives me a much needed reminder of summer now that the winter is kicking in. 

I used A-England Galahad as a base and Wet n Wild white for stamping with BM12. For the detail on the flowers, I used Collection 2000 Spangles and Rimmel Funky Diva. The Rhinestones are from Viva La Nails, and of course I used NYC Top Coat to finish it all off.

Half-Moon Nudey

This is another look from New York Fashion Week, this time from the Odilon show. 

The design comes from Minx Nails who, in case you don't know, make a special kind of nail sticker that really bonds to your nail and is normally applied by professionals. However, lots of the designs are easy enough to recreate at home with polish and nail art brushes. 

You may have seen Beyonce, Rihanna and other stars sporting the famous Minx chrome manicures. Hopefully, one day, the powers that be will create a polish that gives you the same effect as the amazing chrome Minxes.

I used Collection 2000 White as a base and Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude for the half moons which I applied using a small nail art brush.

♪♫ Memories of times and the places that were there

I can't believe it's Friday already! This week has flown by so quickly.

You might have noticed a few changes around here recently. I put up a new banner a little while ago and my pictures have also taken a turn for the better if I do say so myself!

I've been wanting a great lamp with a white fluorescent bulb for a long time after Cris gave me some advice about lighting. They can be a bit pricey but I was lucky enough to find one in the house. It's been sat on the same side table for months and I've gotten so used to seeing it that I just forgot it was there.

I was sat in the lounge one day when I caught a glimpse of it and just had one of those moments where something clicked in my brain and I realised it was exactly what I'd been wanting for weeks!

I also changed my watermark and have started stamping it in to the middle of the pictures because I've seen a few of my pictures online with the watermark cropped out and no credit given which is so annoying (and illegal). So, I have to put it in a place where it can't be cropped without slicing up the picture, but I'm trying to keep it as unobtrusive as possible and I hope you guys don't mind too much.

I started out using scotch tape to mark off the black sections at the side but it ruined the mani underneath so I just whipped out a striping brush and freehanded the a line then filled it in after. It's obviously not as crisp a line as you would get using scotch tape but it saves a lot of time and hassle.

Bit of This. Bit of That.

This is one of those mani's that I was constantly looking at and thinking 'I could add this'. There's a very real danger there of it turning into a tacky abomination of a manicure but I think I managed to reel myself in enough to leave it at a slightly over the top mumble jumble of things!

It was originally just a nude nail and I wasn't going to apply any kind of nail art but I wanted to try out my Barry M Cyan Blue for stamping because I've had it for quite a while and it's gone too thick to really paint my nails with anymore. It actually worked really well! It would not have been this opaque when I first bought it but over time as it's thickened, it has turned in to a stamping polish!

The glitter is one that I found in a £1 bucket. It's not really packed with glitter so it's really just for layering. It reminds me of China Glaze Medallion. It's got gold glitter and holographic hexagonal pieces.

Leave It To The Professionals

Sorry for the eerie silence around here. I've been busy this week looking for a full-time job since I don't think I'll be going back to University in September. These are my 'interview' nails, I don't want to wear anything too loud so I went for a nude with some subtle stamping.

Catrice Moulin Rouge Light

Hallo ladies,

Sorry for my lack of mani post, I have not been able to do my nails much in the last week due to working alot :( But that did not stop me from buying loads of new polishes :D

Today I have a new Catrice for ya from there Nude line called Catrice Ulti mate nubes in the color Moulin Rouge Light, it's a beautiful pink/peach kind of color great for French mani's

The first coat was kind of streaky but after the second coat I got full coverage. The sun was not out much so I could not take really good pic's (sorry) I think this color would be real pretty to use as a base coat for konading black over it.









So what do you think?

Simples...

I don't have a lot of time for nail art with this silly assignment due on Thursday so today's mani is just a simple take on a French Manicure. I'm one of those people who leaves everything until the last possible minute. I have a 1700 word essay plus a 500 word report due on Thursday morning and I haven't even started them yet!

I don't know what my problem is. I know I'm going to end up sat at my desk at 4 o' clock on Thursday morning after staying up all night, crying because I haven't got enough words or decent content, telling myself that this won't happen next time but it always does. Is anyone else a serial procrastinator?

I will admit these are not my usual kind of colors but they are quite lovely.I might actually be falling for Bare in Mind.....really!

I'm back!! It's been over a week since I've posted a konadicure and nearly as long since I even put one on. It's just been bananas here with starting back at Uni last Monday and all the other fun stuff that goes with it. Anyway, enough excuses - here is a mani from just before I went out of action.

E.L.F Innocence Swatch

I've been searching for a good, affordable polish for 'Mannequin' hands for a while now. It ended up as a competition between E.L.F's Innocence and Desert Haze but many bloggers have said that the Desert Haze has a hint of brown and I wanted a flesh tone.

So here it is... E.L.F Innocence. I used 4 coats but I think 3 would have been fine if I didn't have yellow nails underneath. There's no topcoat in the picture, it's a pretty shiny polish by itself.

Please excuse the broken first finger.

I really like this colour. It's just what I've been looking for and at this price it's a steal!

Nude but not naked

A mirical happened today...I put makeup on! seriously, the first time in 2 weeks! It has been,still is, too hot to bother.Today my Sephora order came in so I decided to play! Now you have to look at me! hahaha!Don't look too close, my skin is very angry about the heat!
I tried a nude look...meh!My winged liner turned out decent though. YAY!
